Spotlight Highlight

Ensign Castecka served as both an Active Duty enlisted Marine and a member of the Army National Guard before joining the Navy Reserve and earning his commission as a Supply Officer.  He is also a volunteer at the Saint Paul Catholic School for events and fundraisers.

How have you benefited from your service in the Navy Reserve?

Being in the Navy Reserve has allowed me the opportunity to continue service to my country in uniform while maintaining my civilian employment and family life. I’m able to take back lessons I’ve learned from the Navy Reserve, such as leadership, accountability, service, and job-related skills to my civilian life.

Why did you choose to join the Navy Reserve?

As a prior-service Marine with two tours afloat, I valued the common Naval mission, culture, customs and terminology between the two services. I had a strong desire to continue my service and with a strong civilian and military background in Supply and Logistics management, becoming an Officer in the Navy Reserve Supply Corps was a natural fit.

In my Navy…

every Sailor has an important role. Every Sailor brings something of value to the fight. Every Sailor is a leader. Every Sailor is family.
