How have you benefited from your service in the Navy Reserve?

Serving in the Navy Reserve has given me the opportunity to increase my leadership skills in both the Navy Reserve and in my civilian job. Joining the Navy Reserve starting from the enlisted ranks has given me the opportunity to earn a commission as an officer in the Navy Reserve.

Why did you choose to join the Navy Reserve?

When I served onboard my first ship while on active duty, I was very proud to wear the Navy uniform in and around town on liberty. I wasn’t ready to hang my uniform up, so I joined the Navy Reserve. Wearing the uniform and getting support from the community motivates me to continue to serve. The Reserve also provides the best medical and dental coverage and education benefits, which contribute to a healthy lifestyle.

In my Navy…

the uniforms have changed from dungarees, utilities, Johnny Cash, working uniforms, and service uniforms, but the Navy core values of “Honor, Courage, and Commitment” haven’t changed.
