Petty Officer Kritzberger volunteered for two tours in Afghanistan.  Within six months of his return, he was fully integrated into the Operational Support Unit and took on various leadership roles.

How have you benefited from your service in the Navy Reserve?

Being in the Navy Reserve allows me to serve and be a role model for both my country and community with pride. The Reserve has given me the opportunity to learn valuable leadership skills which transfer directly to my civilian job as a deputy sheriff in my hometown.

Why did you choose to join the Navy Reserve?

I chose the Navy Reserve in 2007 during my senior year in high school. My dad served 26-years in the Navy and his service and love for the Navy influenced me to join. He retired as a senior chief petty officer. I chose the steelworker rating because I was interested in learning a new trade and I knew the Navy would give me the best opportunities for making this happen. I also wanted to be a part of the “Seabee” legacy as a member of a Construction Battalion.

In my Navy…

Failure is not an option.
